Paddocks and sheep along Shingle Hill Way

This is the view looking east across the paddocks from along Shingle Hill Way. The weather that day was particularly miserable and the dramatically lit clouds really helped capture this. I am also really happy with how the trees and foreground detail turned out. What I don’t like is how much time it took to paint the grass which can get really tiresome.

Days like this is why I paint from my photographs and am not at all tempted to sit there in the cold and rain and try to paint en plein air.

Painted in oil on a 24″x18″ artist board with a beeswax treated Tasmanian Oak float frame.

Sold (Sutton Village Gallery).
