Shearer’s Shed

This was a really dull late Autumn day – my favourite sort to paint. The shed – maybe once a shearer’s or could have even been a gold miner’s shed – stands just beyond Shingle Hill Way before it meets Sutton-Gundaroo Road. Until a couple of years ago it stood facing the road but they rerouted the road so now we see its back.

I liked the fence post line in the foreground but the grass around it, growing just above the road verge, was a different colour to the rest and consequently looks a little unusual. In the distance is probably a shearing shed in the valley.

Painted in late May 2024 in oil 24″x18″ on canvas. Not yet framed.
