Goat shed after the storm

This is the third of a series of paintings of our abandoned goat shed in different weather conditions, aspects and lightings. Whereas previously the storm was threatening and then breaking, the shed has been pelted with rain and pummelled by wind, one corrugated iron panel lied on the ground but the wind has dropped and the sky is less tumultuous but has taken ion a deeper blue in the twilight. It is painted a little more front on than the previous two and a little closer up.

This is also part of a group of smaller format works I have used to conduct experiments in how I block out my paintings and subsequently work them to completion. In this one I used a shortened process where I did a very detailed block out with minimal subsequent layers of additional detail.

Painted in May 2024 in oil on 12″x9″ artists board.
