This is the view looking east across the paddocks from along Shingle Hill Way. The weather that day was particularly miserable and the dramatically lit clouds really helped capture this. I am also really happy with how the trees and foreground detail turned out. What I don’t like is how much time it took to paint the grass which can get really tiresome.
Days like this is why I paint from my photographs and am not at all tempted to sit there in the cold and rain and try to paint en plein air.
Painted in oil on a 24″x18″ artist board with a beeswax treated Tasmanian Oak float frame.
