Winter along Shingle Hill Way

This is the third image I’ve painted from more or less this spot. One was looking the other direction over the paddock where some sheep were grazing. The other was a pretty much the same aspect on another overcast day. In this I am using a smaller format and the sky is more uniform with way less detail in the foreground.

This was part of a series of smaller experimental works which use a more detailed blockout and less time on detailing the foreground. The detail layer was basically the well defined trees and a little touching up of the foreground and playing with the clouds just above the treeline.

Painted in late May 2024 in oil on a 12″x9″ artist’s board. On sale at Sutton Village Gallery as part of my “Beyond the Front Gate” exhibition (opens 26th October 1pm).
